2Citystudio enjoys big firm experience and delivers it with small firm personality. We are not about creating an icon but about creating superior learning, teaching and working spaces. We also understand the importance of managing costs in today’s market and how to be responsible stewards of your money, as it is how we operate our own business. We believe our low overhead and creative design solutions will develop the most sustainable, long lasting, right sized product for our client. By developing an understanding of each client’s needs and perspective, our design solution is particularly suited for each person, group or organization. When the designer is able to think like those who will be using each of these spaces the architecture developed will be successful and sustainable.
Not only is the hospital room able to improve the health of the recovering patient, we believe that the office space, classroom, stairway, or auditorium can also be designed to provide the same benefits when the designer is able to think like those who will be using each of these spaces. We think that architecture created in this way stands to promote long-lasting, sustainable and healthy environments.
The 2Citystudio principals are BCOM, LEED, and SCUP trained professionals who each have over 15 years of project management and design experience. We are a new firm who’s principals were former workmates at a Richmond-based architecture firm to which they had brought design skills, sustainable principles, and client stewardship ideas. The project management skills that they developed out of that experience serve as a foundation for more forward thinking approaches to technology, communication methods, and design innovation. Our principals have been the designers and project managers of school buildings that have been recognized both locally and regionally for design excellence, including awards for State and Local AIA Merit and Honor, Distinguished Design from VSBA, and Excellence in Design from VEFPI and CEFPI..
We are not constrained by a singular style or approach; each project is a custom response to client needs. We have more than 45 years of combined experience working with public and private clients to design or manage projects of varying scales ranging from $10,000 residential additions, new school construction, historic restoration, and renovation projects, to $72,000,000 campus designs throughout Virginia. Several of the renovation projects were completed in occupied buildings requiring careful, creative investigation, planning and phasing approaches.
Our principals have participated on projects that have been recognized both locally and regionally for design excellence, including award-winning, sustainably designed, light industrial, institutional, commercial, and residential environments.
