Craig Hall Solar Array, Virginia Western Community College
Scott Kyle, Project Manager, Full Scale Architecture
Mr. Kyle asisted in the design and installation of a 10kW photovoltaic array for the roof of Craig Hall on the VWCC campus. The project is a test facility for use within the VCCS to evaluate future proposals for such installations on new and existing college buildings. The array is also being used as a sustainable educational opportunity for alternative energy research within the College itself. The use of an existing campus building validates the use of all other properly oriented university buildings on the campusand ties to the energy grid of the campus, thus contributing energy to all buildings on the campus. Full Scale Architecture , for which Mr. Kyle is president, worked with the installer, Richmond Bysolar, and contracted with Dunlap Engineering for Electrical Engineering and Louia Engineering for Structural Analysis on the project.
